Lucknow: An inmate of a jail in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur committed suicide by hanging himself with his towel. As soon as the news of suicide in the jail was received, the ground slipped under the feet of the jail administration officials. In a hurry, the jail administration informed the city magistrate. The inmate was then hanged when the city magistrate reached the jail. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigating the matter.

According to the information, Shailesh Kumar Gupta, a prisoner who hanged himself in the district jail, was imprisoned in jail for the last 4 months in a dowry murder case. Inmate Shailesh Gupta hanged himself with a towel in a rod protruding into a balcony outside the toilet located in the neighbourhood of the barrack on Wednesday afternoon. The incident caused chaos in the jail. After getting information from the jail administration, the city magistrate reached the spot and took stock of the incident. The body was brought down from the noose in front of them.

After receiving the information, the police of Sadar Bazar police station reached the jail and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. In this case, City Magistrate Ashish Kumar Singh says that prisoner Shailesh Gupta was imprisoned in dowry murder for the last 4 months. He hanged himself in his restroom. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The entire matter is being investigated.
