Patna: A major incident of corruption by a government official has come to light even once in Patna, the capital of Bihar. In a major operation, a special team of the vigilance department in Patna raided the house of Deputy Secretary of rural development department Shailendra Kumar Bharti and seized gold worth crores of rupees.  

A special team of the monitoring department has registered a case against Shailendra Kumar in a disproportionate assets case. Searches are underway both at the house and office of the criminal officer. SP of Special Vigilance Unit Dr J P Mishra said that so far, jewellery worth Rs 2 crore, a flat, assets worth Rs 50 lakh in Banka and Rs 27 lakh in different banks have been reported from him. DSP level officers are conducting raids.

According to the report, Shailendra Kumar Bharti has been in government service since 2002. According to the vigilance team, Bharti has amassed undisclosed assets while holding different positions in government service for 20 years. His bank documents are still being scrutinized and there may be many revelations. After receiving continuous complaints of corruption by the officers in Bihar, the officers of the Vigilance Department are taking such action against the delinquent officers all over the state. Earlier, a video of Triveniganj BDO taking a bribe from Supaul in Bihar had gone viral.
