Mumbai: The produce has been thrown away by farmers due to lack of proper price. So far, such incidents have come to light and now former Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar have taken a dig at the Central Government over this. In fact, recently Sharad Pawar said, "When he had the agriculture department, he used to give the farmers the right price for their produce. But now the farmers are not taken care of by the Central Government. Sharad Pawar was addressing a gathering of farmers at Junnar in Maharashtra last Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, he said, "The cost of farmers is also not coming out. In such a situation, the farmers are struggling to throw away their produce. The price of onion is not available. The same is the case with other produce. I had the Agriculture Ministry for ten years. I remained committed to giving the farmers the right price for their produce. Farmers feed the countrymen. Not only that, they can meet the needs of foodgrains around the world. The farmers have done it.''

He was accompanied by Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Valse Patil. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar unveiled the statue of former MLAs late Shivajirao Mahadev and Dadasaheb Kale. He also expressed his views on the issue of farmers. "Unfortunately, the Central Government is not paying as much attention as it needs to be addressed in this matter.
