NCP chief Sharad Pawar's letter has created a ruckus among the farmers' Bharat bandh. Recently, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, 'When Sharad Pawar was the Minister of Agriculture, he wrote a letter to the Chief Ministers of all the states regarding private sector participation in the market infrastructure'. On the same statement of the Union Minister, Sharad Pawar said, "Yes I said that the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) needs some reforms. The APMC Act should continue but with reforms. There is no doubt that I wrote the letter but APMC is not even mentioned in these three acts. They are just trying to divert attention. No need to give importance."

He also said, "Tomorrow 5-6 people of different political parties will hold a collective meeting and discuss. We are going to meet with the President tomorrow at 5 pm. We will present our collective approach to them." At a press conference last Monday, Ravi Shankar said, "When Sharad Pawar was the Minister of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, he wrote a letter to all the Chief Ministers of the country. In this letter, he wrote that a change in the mandi act is necessary, it is necessary for the private sector to come, farmers should have the opportunity to sell their crops anywhere." He also said, "The work that we have done today, Manmohan Singh's government was doing this 8-9 years ago, in 2005, Sharad Pawar was saying this. At the time, Sharad Pawar was saying that if you do not improve, we will stop giving financial support. At that time, the SP, RJD, CPI and other parties were supporting the Manmohan Singh government."

On all these allegations of Ravi Shankar, NCP clarified, 'The state governments were hesitant to implement it, so when Sharad became the Minister of Agriculture, he asked the Agricultural Boards to make a consensus on the law and then it was placed before the state governments'. After this, many states came forward to implement the law.
