Lucknow: NCP chief Sharad Pawar has cornered the BJP Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. He said a case like Lakhimpur has not taken place to date. At the same time, Pawar has referred to the Lakhimpur case and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Speaking at a press conference, Sharad Pawar said that an incident like Lakhimpur has never happened before. The protesting farmers say that Ashish Mishra, son of the minister of state for home (Ajay Mishra), was also present. It was only after the Supreme Court heard it that the minister's son was caught.

Sharad Pawar further said, "Those in power need to take a stand on it. Chief Minister Yogi cannot withdraw from his responsibility like this. He should resign immediately.'' Pawar, on the other hand, hit out at former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and said, "Fadnavis compared the Lakhimpur incident to the firing in Mawal. Let me tell you that there were no allegations against any leader in the firing by the police in Mawal. The crowd was provoked by the BJP leader.''

The same NCP chief Sharad Pawar also discussed the Poonch terror attack. Five soldiers were martyred. Pawar said, "What happened in Poonch is alarming. I also spoke to the Central Government. We have to take steps together. Last month, Rajnath Singh called me and AK Antony. We may have political differences, but we are one on the issue of the security of the country. We are committed to this.''
