Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files'. Addressing a conference of the Minority Department of the Delhi Pradesh NCP on Thursday, he said the BJP is creating a toxic atmosphere in India by falsely propagating the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley through the film The Kashmir Files. This was the second function of the NCP in Delhi in the last three years. The party is also strategizing to hold a large gathering in national Delhi to celebrate its foundation day on June 10.

Sharad Pawar said that screening of such films should not have been allowed but the government made it tax-free. The same people who have the responsibility of keeping the country united are asking people to watch a film that provokes anger among the people. He said such a film should not have been cleared for screening.

Sharad Pawar said that it is true that Kashmiri Pandits had to leave the Valley but Muslims were also targeted in the same way. He said that terrorist groups present in Pakistan are responsible for the attack on Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims. The former Union minister said that if the PM Narendra Modi government really cares about Kashmiri Pandits, then it should make every effort to rehabilitate them. There should be no anger in their minds about the minorities. The NCP chief also targeted the BJP for dragging India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru into the talks. He said that Kashmiri Pandits had to leave the Valley when Vishwanath Pratap Singh was the Prime Minister. He said that the BJP was supporting the VP Singh government at that time. Jagmohan was then the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Later, Jagmohan had contested the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi as a BJP candidate. It was he who helped the Kashmiri Pandits to get out of the Kashmir Valley.
