Mumbai: NCP Chief Sharad Pawar has said that his opinion on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is different from Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, NCP are against CAA. Let us tell you that CM Uddhav has been supporting CAA. On Tuesday, Thackeray once again supported it. Responding to Uddhav's statement, Pawar said that, Maharashtra CM has his own opinion, but if you ask us, we are against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

He said that we have voted against it in Parliament and have consistently made our stand clear. In this way we are not in favor of religion-based citizenship. Let us tell you that Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have a joint government in Maharashtra. The CAA was voted against by the NCP and Congress in Parliament. At the same time, Shiv Sena had voted in the Lok Sabha in support of CAA and walkout in Rajya Sabha.

Actually, the Shiv Sena has been supporting the CAA, while being against the National Citizenship Register (NRC). At the same time, Congress and NCP have also been strongly opposed to CAA from the very beginning. While the Congress and NCP are consistently against the CAA, the Shiv Sena opposes only the NRC. In such a situation, what will happen in the joint government of Maharashtra, only time will tell.
