New Delhi: Farmers' agitation is going on for the last two weeks against the Central's agricultural laws. In the meantime, the agitation saw a controlling breach when the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Ugarya) organised an event which showed posters of activists like Omar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Gautam Navlakha, Sudha Bhardwaj, Varvara Rao and Anand Teltunbude. The event was held a few kilometres from the Tikri border.
There was a demand through posters and banners of these activists that the arrested intellectuals and students should be released. Many of these people have been booked under serious cases. There are some who have registered a case under UAPA including the names of Omar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam. In this case, the people of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Ugarya) said that today, on the day of Human Rights Day, we were demanding the release of these people because they have fought for the people and the jungle. They have been wrongly implicated by the government, so we are asking for them to be released.
However, it is reported that the stage of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Ugarya) is a few kilometres from the Tikri border. They are not aware of the event. The farmer leaders said, "We have nothing to do with this news. There is no such demand from our side."
