Shashi Kapoor needs no introduction. He was one of the most popular actors of his time. Shashi Kapoor's full name was Balbir Raj Kapoor, born on 18 March 1938 in Kolkata to Prithviraj Kapoor, who is called the father of Hindi cinema. Due to living between his father and his theater company 'Prithvi Theatres', Shashi's mind was engaged in films since childhood. It can be said that he inherited the trick of acting. The actor has been featured in various Bollywood films. His real name was Balveer Kapoor. His mother did not like this name at all, so she calls her son as Shashi. The actor also became by the name Shashi.

Shashi Kapoor was also the manager of his father's theatre. It was in this theater that Shashi met Jennifer Kendal. Jennifer was the daughter of Geoffrey Kendall, whose Shakespeare group also came to Prithvi Theatre. During a show in the theatre, while peeping from behind the curtain, Shashi saw Jennifer sitting in the fourth row in the audience.  Shashi fall in love on seeing her. He was only 18 years old then and Jennifer was 5 years older than him. Both of them got married in the year 1958. At this time Shashi was only 20 years old and Jennifer was 25. After the death, Jennifer Shashi Kapoor also gone in depression.

The actor had to face many ups and downs in life. There was a time when Shashi used to work in 6 different shifts. There was when the actor stopped getting work. Shashi's son Kunal Kapoor once revealed in an interview that at his father sold his sports car due to financial problem. His mother Jennifer also started selling her valuables.

On the career front, He started acting by playing in his father's theater.Shhashi Kapoor's elder brother Raj Kapoor used to call him by the name of Taxi. Shashi had entered the film world as a child artist. Left his mark in superhit films like 'Aag' and 'Awara'. He appeared in the lead role for the first time in the 1961 film Dharmaputra. He had worked in over 160 films.
