New Delhi: The Delhi Police has moved the Delhi High Court challenging the acquittal of Congress Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor in the death case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. The court has sent a notice to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on this petition filed after a delay of about 15 months. Shashi Tharoor was discharged by the Patiala House Court in a judgment passed on August 18, 2021, in the death case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. But, once again his difficulties seem to be increasing.

A single-judge bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma issued notice to Tharoor in the matter. The Delhi Police had moved the court to hear the matter again, citing a delay of 15 months in the case. Senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, appearing for Tharoor, objected to the delay of 15 months in filing the review petition as the discharge order was passed on August 18, 2021. Pahwa further said that a copy of the revision petition was not given to his client.

At the same time, Shashi Tharoor's lawyer demanded that the matter of delay be discussed first. Following this, the high court issued a notice to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. Pahwa said the court has accepted to hear the delay plea.
