New Delhi: Committees of Parliament for the 17th Lok Sabha is Constituted but this time the chairmanship of the Standing Committee related to Finance and Ministry of External Affairs has not been given to the Congress. In the last Lok Sabha, the Congress was leading these standing committees. The Congress has also expressed objection to not being given the leadership of the standing committee.

Shashi Tharoor tweeted that, 'It is official: the government has decided to end the tradition of the main opposition party chairing the foreign affairs committee. Apparently now the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs will hold the BJP government accountable instead. Our soft power, image and international reputation as a mature democracy has suffered another setback. '

Shashi Tharoor further said that, 'It's official: Govt has decided to end the tradition of the leading Opposition party chairing the External Affairs Committee. Apparently a BJP MP will now hold the BJP Govt accountable instead. One more blow to our soft power, image&international reputation as a mature democracy.'

Let us tell you that earlier Shashi Tharoor had surprised everyone by praising PM Modi and the Central Government, due to which he was also criticized in the Congress.
