New Delhi: Senior Congress Shatrughan Sinha, who quit the BJP and joined the Congress in a recent interview, said, "I held the Congress hand as the party which has been the party of Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, which has had heroes like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. When I thought the BJP was no longer the party, it was no longer the party of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, there was propaganda going on in this party, some people have surrounded the party, all the institutions were taken over by these people, the media was also taken over, after which I decided that it was time to leave the party''.

Moreover, on the question of leaving the BJP, he said, "I have been brought up in the BJP, I have a lot of respect for Atalji, Advaniji. Even today, my friendship and love are very much with the BJP. I used to say that BJP is my first and last party, but due to some compulsion I had to go. I have a good relationship with others in the party except for my feelings towards two or four people". He also said, "Demonetisation was a wrong decision, wrong GST was not in the interest of the country, after which I started raising my voice, the result was that when elections were being held in Patna, the capital of Bihar, without discussing with me, the other candidate was fielded without informing me It was not in principle correct and that is why I left the BJP and came with the Congress". Talking about the Congress' defeat in Bihar, Sinha said, "I was not involved in the selection and sharing of seats".

He also said, "I have never spoken against dynasty, I have praised Sonia Gandhi from the beginning, she is the daughter-in-law of India. The leaders in the Congress were triad and tested. When I went to the BJP, the party had only two seats. The BJP was called a two-seat party, the Congress is a party with at least 44 and 54 seats. Where did Mayawati take Kanshiram's party from? So, it is not right to say that the Congress is a party with 44 and 54 seats. On whether Rahul Gandhi is the PM's candidate, Shatrughan Sinha said that the Prime Minister can be anyone, provided you have the strength of numbers".. At the same time, he said, "Without Gandhi's name, the country does not run, we have three Gandhis, they are doing well."
