If we accept the classical belief, it is said about worshiping Ashtami of Chaitra Krishna Paksha, Vaishakh, Jeshtha, and Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Ashada month. By fasting for four days of four months, one gets freedom from cold-borne diseases. The law of offering cold water and stale food is mentioned in this worship. Sheetla is Digambar, mounted on the garb, embellished with shoop, margany, and neem leaves. Not only this, on Shitala Saptami-Ashtami, reciting Sheetla Mata is prayed with the following mantra to remain healthy.
वन्देऽहं शीतलां देवीं रासभस्थां दिगम्बरराम्,
मार्जनीकलशोपेतां शूर्पालंकृतमस्तकाम्
It is said that there is a law to observe Santashtami fast on this day. To perform this fast, Lord Krishna and Mother Devaki should be duly worshiped after bathing in the morning. It is said that if this is done, then you get merit and all your sorrows are removed.
