Shikhar - Rohit become India's 2nd-best opening pair surpassing Tendulkar and Sehwag

India’s opening pair Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan now became the second best opening pair in ODI history for India after the duo surpassed Sachin Tendular and Virender Sehwag who scored 3919 runs from 93 innings.

Rohit and Shikhar got this achievement during the fourth ODI of the five-match series against the West Indies at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium. They have stitched up 13 hundred-run partnerships in five years. The duo needed five runs to get past the opening firm of Tendulkar and Sehwag 3919 runs from 93 innings and were involved in 12 hundred-run partnerships.

Talking about the No 1 partnership of India then its duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who had opened together in 176 innings and scored  8227 runs  which involves 26 century partnerships.

Apart from breaking the partnership record, opener Rohit Sharma also equalled Sachin’s 195 sixes in ODI. Talking about the individual performance of Rohit and Shikhar, rohit has scored 20 ODI centuries whereas Dhawan has 15 hundreds under his belt.

Meanwhile, India has made 130 runs on the loss of two wickets so far in fourth ODI  against the West Indies at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium. Rohit sharma and Ambati Rayudu are on the crease with 58 and 15 runs respectively.
