On Friday, an FIR was lodged against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and actor Salman Khan at Kotwali police station in Rajasthan’s Churu district after members of the Valmiki community staged protests against Salman’s new film ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, alleging that the actor hurt sentiments of the community. Members of the community also alleged that Shilpa had, in an video released earlier, made “derogatory” statements that hurt the community’s sentiments. The alleged incident happened when Dabangg Khan was present at the TV show Super Dancer 2 to promote his film. Shilpa Shetty is a judge on the same show. On Friday, when the film Tiger Zinda Hai released, members of Valmiki community staged demonstrations outside cinema halls in Jaipur and also tore posters of Tiger Zinda Hai. They also lodged a complaint at Nahargarh police station against the actors.
The statement released by Lade's lawyer read: "Salman along with Katrina Kaif on a TV Show stated insulting word 'Bhangi' against the member of the scheduled cast." The Salman-Katrina starrer might also lose out on some cashing in as the film’s screening was stopped in many parts of Rajasthan after members of the Valmiki community raised slogans, tore and burnt posters of the film over the alleged use of a pejorative word by Salman during a promotional event. The protests started from Ajmer and soon reached Jaipur and Kota, leading to a cancellation of the morning shows in several cinema halls of the film that released nationwide on Friday.
