Kolkata: A new ship has been brought to the coastline under East Midnapore district of West Bengal. The ship named 'Amrit Kaur' with many merits has been handed over to the Indian Coast Guard on Thursday. The ship has been assigned to the Coast Guards in the presence of Coast Guard officials of the coastal area, including District Magistrate Partha Ghosh of East Midnapore district.

The ship was inaugurated on 12 January by Ajay Kumar, the Defense Secretary of the Central Government. After this, it was handed over to the officers of Haldia Port Trust Office on Thursday. This modern ship has been named after Princess Amrit Kaur, a resident and freedom fighter from Punjab. The ship is 49 meters long and 308 tons of goods can be loaded on it. The speed of this ship will be 60 KM per hour.

Officials of Haldia Port Trust said that the arrival of this ship will greatly benefit maritime security. Let us tell you that GRSE has created 'Amrit Kaur'. This ship is capable of conducting rescue, patrolling and anti-smuggling operations at sea.
