Amritsar: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Shi'ad) has announced the names of candidates in six seats for next year's Punjab assembly elections. There are 117 assembly seats in Punjab. Shi'ad has given a ticket to Jagmeet Singh Brar from Mour assembly seat and won From Talwandi Sabo seat Mohinder Singh has been nominated. Suba Singh from Jaitu seat, Mantar Singh Brar from Kotakpura seat, Kanwarjit Singh Roji Barkandi from Muktsar seat, and Parambans Singh Romana from Faridkot seat have been appointed as candidates.

Romana is the president of the party's youth unit. Shi'ite leader Daljit Singh Cheema tweeted that Shi'ite chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced the candidates. Jagmeet Singh Brar joined the Akali Dal in 2019. He has been fielded from Mour's seat. However, former minister and Akali leader Sikander Singh Maluka were wishing to contest from the seat. Maluka's candidature from the Rampura Phool seat was announced on August 29, but he refused to contest from there. Maluka had said that her son Gurpreet Singh should be fielded from the Rampura Phool seat.

While the Akali Dal is busy announcing the names of its candidates for the 2022 elections, the ruling Congress is not able to get out of factionalism. While the political battle between Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu in the Congress is not going to end, the high command has met several times, with all the leaders, to come up with a reconciliation formula, yet the Congress's infighting is not going to subside.
