Lucknow: Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP) national president Shivpal Singh Yadav will not be able to get a further seat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. This demand of Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav has been rejected. After which now uncle Shivpal will have to sit with nephew Akhilesh's MLAs. However, one seat has been increased for SP in the assembly. After which SP now has 5 seats in the front row. However, Shivpal will not be able to get a seat in the front line as seniority and president of a separate party. He will get a seat only as an MLA.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had written a letter to the Assembly Speaker saying that Shivpal Yadav is a senior member (senior MLA) of the UP Assembly and is also the national president of a party. In such a situation, they should be given a front seat. But it is being told that this letter was inappropriate on technical grounds, due to which Shivpal could not get a further seat. After which the decision to give one of the seats allotted to SP to Shivpal will now have to be taken by SP Legislature Party leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Akhilesh Yadav.

At present, party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Azam Khan, Awadhesh Prasad and Lalji Verma sit on the four seats allotted to the SP in the assembly. At present, former Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey and senior MLA Om Prakash Singh also sit in the second row. The SP had demanded that their seats be increased in the front row.
