Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced the renaming of the Hoshangabad district of the state. But former Madhya Pradesh CM and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh have raised questions on CM's announcement to rename Hoshangabad to Narmadapuram. During a conversation with journalists in Bhopal, Digvijay Singh on Saturday said that the BJP should stop the drama. Digvijay Singh asked whether changing the name of districts or cities will end unemployment? Will inflation end? Will the country progress? Whatever you want to do just do, but just stop this drama gimmick.
It has been learned that during the Narmada Jayanti Festival, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced to rename Hoshangabad to Narmadapuram. He said that a proposal to change the name of the city has also been sent to the Central Government. BJP leaders said while talking to the media that 'How long should Hoshangabad be identified by the name of the robber Hoshang Shah? The name of the city is not acceptable in the name of the robber who broke our monastery temple, broke the peak of Lord Bhole's temple?
BJP leaders said that the city should be recognized by the name of the Narmada with whose blessings the fields of Madhya Pradesh are flowing. Shivraj government has already named the division as Narmadapuram division. Now the name of the city is named Narmadapuram. It is a matter of pride. Actually, in the politics of Madhya Pradesh these days, the demand for a change of names of cities and historical places is fiercely political. Leaders of the ruling BJP in the state are demanding a change of names of historical places and cities. Idgah Hills, Iqbal playground, Habibganj Station, and Hoshangabad in Bhopal are the places whose demand for a change of name has gained momentum these days.
