Festivals are the auspicious occasion for Hindus, as Hindutva teaches us to respect all the religions and cultures. One of the cheerful festivals is Maha Shivratri, the day when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married.

This time, the tithi of this special occasion fell on 24th of February. Every small temple on the outskirts of cities is preparing to have special pooja on this day.

Sadhus carrying kamandal (ewer) go for divya darshan and have thandai (Thandai, or sardai, is a cold drink prepared with a mixture of almonds, fennel seeds, magaztari seeds (watermelon kernel), rose petals, pepper, vetiver seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk and sugar.). Sadhus are the favorite devotees of lord Shiva.

We all are very excited for the special worship of Maha Shivratri, which is to be done on shubh mahurt, here we have the holy mahurt for several places, thus we can prepare for the fruitfull worship of lord shiva.
