Mumbai: In the Bharat Bachao Rally of Congress Party held at Ramlila Maidan on Saturday, former president Rahul Gandhi attacked politics by attacking Hinduist leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Rahul had said that one day before the BJP people in Parliament asked me to apologize for my speech. But I want to tell them that my name is not Rahul Savarkar, my name is Rahul Gandhi. I will never apologize for the truth.

Rahul said, "I will die, but will not apologize, nor will any Congress worker apologize." BJP is asking Rahul to apologize during the election rally in Jharkhand saying that 'India is a rape capital'. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena did not like to take Savarkar's name incorrectly. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut while talking to a private TV channel said that Rahul's statement would not change history and that he should read about Savarkar. He cannot tear the pages of history. Savarkar had contributed significantly to the independence of the country. The importance of Savarkar will not diminish as Rahul says. Former PM Manmohan Singh also believed that there may be differences, but Savarkar has contributed to the history and will remain.

Sanjay said, "Savarkar is a role model not only for Maharashtra but also for the youth of the country. Rahul's statement will not affect the coalition government of Maharashtra (Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP) and it will last for a full 5 years. I will make an appeal to the Congress leaders of Maharashtra to give Savarkar's autobiography to Rahul so that his misconceptions can be removed."
