Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by an advocate, Ramprasad Sarkar, seeking the removal of Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Governor of West Bengal. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has requested the state's CM Mamata Banerjee to provide the information sought by the Governor on various issues immediately.

The governor claims that the information he sought from the state's Mumra government was not given to him. On February 15, he had urged Banerjee to visit Raj Bhavan this week to discuss various issues with the Governor so that the constitutional deadlock could be avoided. Dhankhar said no response has been given to him so far. In a series of tweets on Thursday, the governor had said, "I request the respected Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to come to Raj Bhavan anytime this week and meet her on issues that have led to a constitutional impasse." To avoid this, we both took an oath.

At the same time, the Governor requested Banerjee to respond immediately on all issues. Dhankhar, in a letter to Banerjee on February 15, said that even after drawing attention to the pertinent issues, no reply has been given so far. A copy of the letter was shared by the Governor along with a tweet that said that it is the constitutional duty of the CM to inform the Governor under Article 167.
