Uttarakhand: Last Tuesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat attended the inaugural function of a workshop. Talking here, he said, "Ripped jeans are paving the way for the breakdown of our society." This is giving bad examples to children who take them to drug abuse. At the same time, the chief minister named the 'kenchi se sanskar.' He said in his statements "We are now giving our children 'ken-chi se sanskar' showing knees, wearing ripped jeans to look like rich children. Where is all this coming from, it is not coming from home? What is the fault of teachers or schools? Am I going to take my son from the knees in jeans? The girls are not too short to show their knees, is it right? We are doing all this in the crazy race of westernization. While the Western world is following us, cover your body... is doing yoga."

Commenting on the likes of young women, the chief minister said, "I was shocked to see a woman running an NGO wearing ripped jeans woman meets people in society to solve the problems of the people in the society, what message is it giving in the society? It all starts at home. Whatever we do, our children follow us. If children are taught the right culture at home, no matter how modern it becomes, life can never fail."

If you remember, earlier, cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi had said, "All women should concentrate on the good upbringing of children. Women talk about all the things they want to do in life, but the most important thing for them is to take care of their family and children.''
