Ranchi: A high school student in Ranchi, Jharkhand, who is in Class 12, was reportedly raped by her school teacher. The teacher, identified as Sameedh Kashyap, not only committed the crime but also recorded it on video and threatened to share it online. The accused, Kashyap, allegedly forced the victim into several instances of rape.

When the victim's mother found out about this, she reported it to the school. She mentioned that the teacher not only sexually assaulted her daughter but also physically harmed her. Medical tests confirmed the assault. The teacher used to call the student to his house and abuse her. When the situation came to light, he pressured her to settle the matter quietly. An official report was made on July 29th. However, the complaint filed with the school was different from the official report, suggesting an attempt to downplay the severity of the issue.

The case was registered under IPC sections 354 and 323, which deal with assault and attempted rape, but not full rape. Pratul Shahdev, a spokesperson from Jharkhand's BJP, condemned the incident and criticized the police for not using the appropriate legal sections in the case. He demanded strict action against the teacher, mentioning that the police seemed to be minimizing a serious matter by using lighter charges. The investigation is ongoing.
