New Delhi: Indian shooters are spreading their fire in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the men's ten-meter air pistol event, shooter Abhishek Verma has won the gold medal. Saurabh Chaudhary has a bronze medal in his name. In the 50m 3 position rifle event, Sanjeev Rajput won the silver medal. Although he missed the gold medal by just 0.2 points, he placed India at the eighth quota position for the Tokyo Olympics.

Earlier, female shooter Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal in the ten-meter air rifle event. This was her first gold medal in the Senior Shooting World Cup. In the men's ten-meter air pistol event, Abhishek Verma won the gold by scoring 244.2 points while Saurabh Chaudhary scored 221.9 for the bronze. The silver medal in this event was held by Ismail Kales of Turkey, scored 243.1. India has already achieved a maximum of two quota places for this event.

Abhishek Verma and Saurabh Chaudhary secured these quota places in the last qualifying event. In Rio de Janeiro, Abhishek was fifth with 582 points while Chaudhary was fourth with 584 points. At the same time, another Indian Gaurav Rana was at number 44 with 571 points. India topped the points table with two gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
