Five of the eight players who qualified for the final could not win the quota and Deepak had to be ahead of either Dan Sampson of Australia or Patrick Jani of Slovakia to win one of the two available quotas for the Tokyo Olympics. Deepak took a poor target of 9.7 and 9.2 in the final and then after scoring more than 10 points for 12 consecutive times, he could not progress further and got eliminated. Jani achieved the quota by finishing third and Sampson came fourth.
