New Delhi: India's shooter Yashaswini Deswal has won the gold medal in the ongoing Shooting World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With this victory, India has got the ninth Olympic quota. 22-year-old Yashaswini Deswal has achieved this success in the 10 meters air pistol event of Hilo. Former Junior World Champion 22-year-old Yashaswini won the gold medal by scoring 236.7 in the eight women's finals. World number one Ukraine's Olena Kostevych received silver and Serbia's Jasmina Milavonovich received bronze.

Yashaswini has become the second Indian woman shooter to win a gold medal in the ISSF World Cup. On the very first day of the World Cup before Yashaswini, Elavenil Valarivan won the gold in the 10m air pistol. Elavenil scored 629.4 points while Anjum scored 629.1. Apoorvi scored only 627.7 points and finished 11th. Only the shooters who are in the top eight enter the finals. Elavenil became the third Indian woman to win a gold medal in this event at the Shooting World Cup. Before them, Apurvi and Anjali Bhagwat have done this feat. Now the name of Yashaswini has also been added.
