Mumbai police are delving into the recent shooting incident outside the residence of Bollywood star Salman Khan, exploring potential connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and examining whether the gang received support from anti-national elements operating outside India.

On April 14, two individuals discharged four rounds outside Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra area, where Salman Khan resides. The suspects, identified as Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21), were apprehended in Gujarat, along with two arms suppliers, Sonu Kumar Chander Bishnoi (37) and Anuj Thapan (32), arrested in Punjab.

Appearing before court, Gupta, Pal, and Thapan were remanded in police custody until May 8, as per the crime branch's request.

Lawrence Bishnoi, currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad's Sabarmati central prison, and his brother Anmol, believed to be abroad in either the US or Canada, are prime suspects. Anmol had allegedly claimed responsibility for the shooting via a Facebook post, originating from an IP address traced to Portugal.

Given the international scope of Lawrence Bishnoi's criminal network, authorities are investigating potential assistance from anti-national elements outside India, including the supply of weapons and funding, according to police submissions.

Furthermore, investigators are scrutinizing the origin of the firearms used by the assailants and exploring the gang's intentions, suspecting a bid to instill fear in Mumbai, the nation's financial hub. There are also inquiries into potential extortion attempts targeting business figures, actors, and developers in the city.
