Kolkata: Leader of opposition in West Bengal Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shubhendu Adhikari has launched a front against Alapan Bandyopadhyay. He alleged that Mamata Banerjee's government is protecting former chief secretary of the state Alapan as he is aware of the irregularities of the TMC government on corona management in the state.
It may be recalled that the Union Home Ministry had on May 31 issued a "show cause notice" to Bandyopadhyay for allegedly violating the Disaster Management Act for not attending a meeting convened by PM Modi. In fact, Alapan Bandyopadhyay was directed by the Central government to report to the North Block in Delhi over the controversy that started after PM Modi's review meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee on May 28 after the cyclonic storm "Yaas". But, Mamata did not send him to Delhi and made Alapan her chief advisor.
Shubhendu Adhikari told the press after meeting Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhavan that Alapan Bandyopadhyay is aware of many wrong doings of Trinamool Congress (TMC). Alapan did not take any action to correct their wrongdoings. So TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee seems so excited to save Alapan.
