Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 7 wickets on Friday with the healp of brilliank knock by Shubman Gill. With his 65-run knock in his hometown, Gill created a unique record that no player of his age has been able to. With his half-century against Ravichandran Ashwin's men, Gill became the first player under 20 years of age to bag four fifty-plus scores in his IPL career.

Before Gill, three players had scored half-centuries before turning 20 in the history of the franchise league but Gill became the first one to bag four on Friday.

Gill remained passive as the Knight Riders started off the chase of 184 runs with the bat. Chris Lynn gave another fine example of his brute hitting prowess as he slammed a quick-fire 46. The Australian became a victim of Andrew Tye on the final ball of the powerplay but the dismissal didn't effect Gill's focus.

In 13 matches so far this IPL, Gill has scored 287 runs at a strike rate of 129.27. In the process, he has smashed 21 boundaries and 10 sixes.

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Gill said, “It feels great, my first MoM at my home ground. Can't get better than this. It was important to build partnership. I was striking it at 80-100 but the run-rate was still going around 9-10, so that's when I decided I had to stay in there. Even some relatives from my village came to watch so it's great to play in front of everyone. We have one more match to go, and it would be very nice if we can win that and make it into the play-offs.”
