Brig (Retd) Dr. BD Mishra, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, has urged residents to shun the 'bandh culture,' saying that it causes immense suffering to the common man, the impoverished, daily wage workers, women, and school-aged children.
The Governor pointed out that most of the regular bandh requests by organisations are wrong and bring misery to the common people as he unfurled the National Tricolor at the Indira Gandhi Park here on the occasion of India's 73rd Republic Day. "Sadly, most bandh calls have devolved into violence, resulting in the destruction of public property worth crores of rupees purchased with our people's money. Our government has now determined to deal strongly with the bandhs, and no illegal activity will be tolerated, and anyone who engage in illegal activities will be prosecuted "he stated
The Governor urged residents to cooperate and resist the unlawful, malicious bandh calls at all costs, stating that the State government will henceforth have "zero tolerance" for lawlessness. Mishra urged people to follow COVID-19 guidelines, saying that despite the fact that the country has been fighting the epidemic for the last two years, the state government has meticulously controlled the issue.
"Our State Government has set up adequate numbers of Covid Wards, oxygen plants, ICU units, and more than 1,000 oxygen beds and sufficient number of oxygen generation plants for Corona and its latest mutation 'Omicron,'" he said, adding that an additional 77 ICU beds, 10 paediatric care units, and 17 modern district hospitals are also under construction. The Governor also praised the efforts of the state's health-care employees in the fight against the epidemic.
The Governor stated that the State Government has established a five-year strategy for drug de-addiction among the young and that actions are being made to regulate the cultivation, distribution, and use of addictive goods due to the growing instances of drug scourge in the State.
