SI Arjun, who forced Dalit youth to drink urine, arrested

New Delhi: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the case of allegedly forcibly feeding a Dalit youth in custody, has arrested the main accused, Sub-Inspector Arjun. Police sources have given information in this regard on Thursday. Arjun, a former sub-inspector of Gonibidu police station in Chikmagalur district, was arrested by a team led by SP D. Ravi Channavar in Bengaluru on Wednesday night, sources said.

It is noteworthy that the police led by SI Arjun had arrested Puneet K.L. in Gonibidu in connection with a case on 10 May. Arjun allegedly harassed Puneet and asked another youth to urinate on his face. It is also alleged that Puneet was forced to soak urine on the floor. The matter came to light when Puneet wrote a letter to the Police Department Human Rights Commission. In this regard, an FIR was registered against the accused police officer Arjun on 22 May. Following the reaction, the accused police officer was suspended.

Meanwhile, a case of rape was registered against Puneet's relatives, but he got bail in this case. Both the cases are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
