New Delhi: On Tuesday, the leaders of the Congress party, including Rahul Gandhi, were seen making their way to the home of party president Mallikarjun Kharge for a meeting where they would discuss who would be the future chief minister of Karnataka. Kharge is also expected to meet with the front-runners for the position of chief minister, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar.

Shivakumar arrived in the national capital today from Bangalore, while Siddaramaiah met with party leaders yesterday after arriving in Delhi a day earlier. "Based on the observers' report, the Congress president will make a decision. There is no delay; we are proceeding as per plan, said Congressman BK Hariprasad.

Before leaving for Delhi, DK Shivakumar, the president of the Karnataka Congress, declared: "We have established this party (the Congress), we have built this house. I take part in it.Everything is given to a child by a mother. 

Regardless of the party's choice, he made it plain that he would not engage in "backstabbing or blackmail."  DK Shivakumar stated, "If the party wants, they can give me the responsibility.." in an exclusive interview with ANI. Our home number is 135 and we are a united house. I don't want to create a rift in this room. They may or may not like me, but I'm a responsible man. I won't betray somebody or use blackmail.

In the recently concluded election for the 224-member Karnataka assembly, the Congress won 135 seats.

In order to present their findings to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding the appointment of the Karnataka chief minister, three central observers chosen by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Karnataka came in Delhi on Monday.

The mission given to the observers Sushil Kumar Shinde, Deepak Bawaria, and Bhanwar Jitendra Singh was to chat with freshly elected Congress MLAs about the choice of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in Karnataka and then to deliver their findings to the party's high command.

Late on Sunday night in Bangalore , the Congress legislative party met and passed a one-line resolution giving Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge the authority to choose the legislative party's leader.
