Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Chamundi Hill on Thursday to inaugurate the 10-day Dussehra festival in Mysuru, where he offered puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari. The grand festivities were officially launched by the chief guest, renowned writer Hampa Nagarajaiah, who lit a lamp and showered flowers on the idol of the goddess placed in the temple.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, along with several ministers, including H K Patil, K Venkatesh, Dr. H C Mahadevappa, and other dignitaries, were also present at the event. This celebration comes on the heels of significant legal troubles for the Chief Minister. Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) booked Siddaramaiah for money laundering in connection with the alleged MUDA land allotment scam. In response, his wife, Parvathi, has written to the MUDA Commissioner, offering to surrender the 14 plots allotted to her by the authority.

The Mysuru Lokayukta has officially initiated an inquiry following a September 27 court order to file an FIR regarding the allegations of illegalities in the allotment of these 14 sites, valued at ₹56 crore, to Siddaramaiah's wife in a prime location of Mysuru city. On Wednesday, Siddaramaiah launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that Nathuram Godse is effectively their leader and urging the public to counter the BJP's alleged conspiracy to reshape India according to Godse's ideology.

Regarding the controversial land, Siddaramaiah clarified that it was a gift from his wife's brother and accused MUDA of encroaching upon it. He noted that his wife had requested an alternative site, but the location allocated was not specified as Vijayanagara. Siddaramaiah emphasized that the situation has escalated into a political conflict, arguing that the money laundering allegations are irrelevant to his case and asserting that his wife's actions were motivated by a desire to avoid controversy.
