Amritsar: Former Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu has received a major setback from the Supreme Court. He had demanded immediate hearing on the petition for relief from surrender, which has not been approved by the Supreme Court. Let us inform that Sidhu was to surrender in Patiala Court today, but now he had sought time for it citing health problems. At the same time, while hearing Sidhu's curative petition, it has been said on behalf of the bench that it should be placed before the Chief Justice (CJI).

Sidhu's counsel before Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramanna demanded an urgent hearing on the issue. But the CJI did not allow this and said that he should go to the registry and give a petition first. After the refusal of urgent hearing by the top court, now Sidhu's lawyers are going to the court registry and will appeal for hearing at 2 pm. In fact, the Supreme Court on Thursday sentenced Sidhu to one year in jail in the 1988 road rage case. For this he had to surrender today, but it has not happened. Talking to the media, Sidhu's friend Mansimrat Singh said that there is a problem in Sidhu's liver.

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said before the bench of Justice Khanwilkar that this is an old case and there are health issues. So it will take a few weeks. However, Singhvi did not specify what health problems Sidhu has. On the other hand, the victim's lawyer has opposed Sidhu's plea and said that the matter is old and now justice has been received.
