After the death of the chief of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), M Karunanidhi, arose a new argument, whether to bury him at the marina beach or the Gandhi Mandapam. The members of the DMK and its followers wanted to bury him on the Marina beach but the AIADMK government refused. They suggested that Karunanidhi should be buried at the Gandhi Mandapam.

After their refusal, the DMK followers went to the Madras High Court. To their application, the court finally agreed.

Hence, now it has been confirmed that the DMK chief and also the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi will be rested on the Marina Beach.

After the court announced its judgment on the same, Karunanidhi’s son and the Working President of DMK, MK Stalin could not control his emotions and broke into tears at Rajaji Hall.

The significance of his burial at the beach is that CN Annadurai who was the founder of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and also the mentor and guru of M Karunanidhi was buried at the same place. Also, MG Ramachandran and Jayalalitha were also laid to rest at the same place.
