Swastika, Siju Wilson and Shabareesh Varma played the lead roles in the film. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Siju Wilson spoke about ‘Vasanthi’, his co-star Swasika, who won the Kerala State Film Award for the best character actress.
Siju is both the actor and producer of ‘Vasanthi’, and speaking about the movie he shared, “Our directors, the Rahman brothers (Shinos Rahman and Sajas Rahman) had earlier done a movie ‘Kalippattakkaran’ and I knew them since those days. So when the script was completed they offered me a role and that’s how I was roped into the project. Becoming the producer wasn’t really something that I had planned.
Siju was all praise when he spoke about his co-star Swasika. “The film travels through the stage and real life of Vasanthi. And so, the directors wanted someone who could emote the expressions that could cater to a play (drama) as well as in real life. “Swasika is a brilliant actor. She is someone who invests her best for the perfection of a character. But, unfortunately, we haven’t seen her in a full-length character like this before, so only a few have recognized her talent. Also, in movies or in soaps, we usually have seen her all dolled up. She had to give up all those as there was no need for makeup in ‘Vasanthi’,” Siju added.
Although the movie has already made headlines and won prestigious awards, the movie is yet to be screened on the big screen. And when asked about what all surprises are in store for the audience, he shared, “‘Vasanthi’ is a movie I would be delighted to be watching as an audience. We can’t wait for the movie to reach the audience,” said the actor as he signed off.
