Today is the death anniversary of Shri Ramdas Ji, the fourth Guru of the Sikhs. Guru Shri Ramdas Ji had a special influence on the Sikhs. He was born on 9 October 1534 in Lahore. He was called Jetha, as he was the eldest in the house. He instructed his followers to stay away from jealousy. He said that whoever keeps jealousy within themselves never gives good results. His inspiration included the talk of Neer-Ksheer Vivek.

The word Neer-Ksheer Vivek means somewhat beyond comprehension. Just as a swan drinks milk and leaves the water, in the same way, good people separate ego and jealousy from their conscience. Guru had told his followers that all are made of the same soil, all consume the same air and all people have only one God. At the age of 7, Guruji's parents left him. After the parents' death, their maternal grandfather took him with them to Basarke. It was the grandfather of Ramdas Ji.

When Ramdas Ji saw the third Guru Amar Das, he was very impressed and then he decided to stay in the Guru's feet. He used to work day and night in the service of Guru. Along with this, we used to sell ghouls. Guru Ramdas was married to Bibi Bhani, daughter of the third Guru. After this, in the year 1574, the third Guru Amardas handed over the throne to Shri Ramdas Ji and he was called the fourth Guru. On the orders of his Guru, Shri Ramdas Ji also got Amrit Sarovar and Bawdi constructed in Goindwal Sahib.
