Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang has taken the first dose of covid-19 vaccine at the new STNM hospital in the capital Gangtok today. According to reports, the Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife Krishna Kumari Rai, Rural Development Department Minister Sonam Lama, Chief Minister's Office Secretary SD Dhakal, and other officials who also took the first dose of the vaccine.

Speaking to reporters after being vaccinated here, the Chief Minister said, "He is in bliss and feeling safe". I had no problem applying the vaccine. The covid-19 vaccine is also common like other vaccines. Apart from this, he said that 'Tika Utsav' has also been started in a statewide form from today. Let us also tell you that he also appealed to go to the camps set up by the State Health Department to vaccinate people aged 45 years and above.

During this, the Chief Minister said that the Government of India is giving covid-19 vaccine free to the countrymen, so people should get the vaccine without any rumor. At the same time, he also appealed to people to follow the proper behavior of covid even after vaccination. Meanwhile, in response to some questions, Chief Minister Tamang said, "Sikkim has not yet thought of putting a lockdown, as it is necessary to run trade and business as well. However, if the situation becomes uncontrolled, it may be decided to keep the markets closed on Saturday and Sunday". Apart from this, he said that the government is monitoring the situation of covid-19 cases in the state.
