After marking its arrival on the BCCI’s Observation list, the Sikkim Cricket Association has taken yet another historic step, hosting its first-ever All women's inter-club tournament Khangchendzonga Shield which started at the Mining Ground in Rangpo. The tournament started on November 11 and the final will be held on November 23, with its motto being -“With the Blessings of our Guardian Deity Sikkim’s Women Players shall Soar”.

BCCI's chief curator Ashish Bhowmick, board's certified coach Dr. Atul Gaikwad are there to help the state body in preparing pitches as well as the players and coaches from the region.

Sikkim is also all set for an official visit by BCCI Chief Curator Ashish Bhowmick for handing over of the Ground, as well as a visit from certified level-4 4 England Cricket Board Master Coach & level-3 Cricket Australia & BCCI high-performance Coach, Dr. Atul Gaikwad for development of high-performance programs, camps and courses for coaches - a first of its kind in the state.
