One of our northeastern City will have a new airport in the Dolu tea garden area on the outskirts of Silchar, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In the next two to three weeks, Sarma added, his administration will submit a recommendation to the Centre.
"A new civil airport will be built near Silchar in the Dolu tea garden area. "Within the next two-three weeks, the state cabinet will make a decision and send it to the central government," Sarma said at a Silchar event on Friday. He stated that the state government is devoted to the rapid development of Barak Valley and has taken many steps to ensure the region's progress in education, health, and communication.
The new airport would be built on 870 acres of property bought from a tea farm, according to the CM. "The rights of the tea garden labourers will be protected, and they will not be losers in any manner while the new airport is being built," he stated. The Indian Air Force owns the present Silchar airport, which is located at Kumbhirgram. In the Barak Valley, a "safari zoo will be built," said Sarma.
