Lucknow: Former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Mafia Atiq Ahmed was once synonymous with terror in Prayagraj. If he wanted, the whole city would have stopped and if he wanted, everyone would have followed him. But, after the death, that influence of Atiq, that terror, all got mixed in the soil along with his body. In fact, not even a relative reached the grave of Atiq and his brother Ashraf on the 40th. According to media reports, no one even reached to offer flowers on the graves of both and perform the ritual of chadarposhi. 

Let us tell you that there is a lot of recognition of the 40th day of death in Islam. On this day, relatives of the deceased come to the grave and offer chadar, flowers and read Fatiha. On the 40th day, relatives visit the grave of the deceased and pray for the peace of his soul. However, reports suggest that on Thursday (May 25) nothing like this was seen at the graves of Atiq and Ashraf. The Kasari-Masari cemetery in Prayagraj where the mafia brothers are buried, no one even came to peep there for the whole day. In fact, earlier it was being said that Atiq's wife Shaista Parveen and Ashraf's wife Zainab could reach the cemetery to perform the 40th ceremony, but they did not come. 

Shaista is absconding since the broad day murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal (2005) in February. The Uttar Pradesh Police has now declared her as a mafia. She didn't even come to the cemetery on the day Atiq was buried. However, later it was told in some media reports that she was in Prayagraj that day only. But, due to the strict police arrangements, did not go to the cemetery.

Atiq's 2 sons are imprisoned and two minor sons are in the correctional home. Son Asad, accused in the murder of Umesh Pal, has been killed in a police encounter. After the encounter of son Asad, Shaista did not come forward even at the time of his burial. Many other relatives of Atiq Ahmed are also said to be absconding. Father-in-law Harun and brother-in-law Usman Ahmed came to the cemetery on the day of the burial of the mafia brothers. But on the 40th they did not come. Keep in mind that Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf were shot dead by 3 shooters in front of the media. All three shooters are currently in police custody.
