Singer Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, dies at 54

LOS ANGELES: Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's single child whose tumultuous life also included a music career, passed away at the age of 54, on Thursday in a Los Angeles hospital.

According to a family statement, "Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are stunned and grieved by the untimely passing of their darling Lisa Marie."

"They beg for privacy at this extremely trying time and are deeply appreciative of the support, love, and prayers of everyone." Presley was admitted to the hospital on Thursday morning after going into cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, California, home, only two days after she and her mother Priscilla Presley attended the Golden Globes.

She received immediate medical attention after paramedics started CPR. According to TMZ, her ex-husband Danny Keough, who lived with Presley, performed CPR before emergency personnel arrived.

At the Golden Globes on January 10, Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley witnessed Austin Butler win the prize for best lead actor in a drama for his starring role in "Elvis." On Sunday, they also went to a "Elvis" pre-Globes celebration where the family celebrated what would have been the King of Rock and Roll's 88th birthday.

"I am so overwhelmed by this film and the effect that it's had and what Austin's done. I'm so proud. I know that my father would also be very proud," Lisa Marie said at the event.

Riley Keough, her daughter, has been in movies like "Zola," "The Devil Always Wins," and "Mad Max: Fury Road."
