New Delhi: Dalit youth Lakhbir Singh was brutally murdered on the Singhu-Kundli border in the past. The Sonepat court remanded three accused in the case, Nihangon Narayan Singh, Bhagwant Singh and Govind Preet Singh, to six days police remand on Sunday (October 17, 2021). According to the report, the accused have admitted to the murder of Lakhbir before the judge. However, the counsel for the accused has denied this. Sarabjit Singh, the fourth accused in the case, has already been remanded for 7 days.

On October 17, the Sonepat Crime Branch and the police approached the court with the three accused. The arrested Nihang Narayan Singh, Bhagwant Singh and Govind Preet Singh admitted before the court that they were the ones who carried out the Lakhbir Singh murder near Singhu border. Narayan Singh told the court that he had cut Lakhbir's leg, Sarabjit had cut the paw of his hand and Govind Singh and Bhagwant Singh had hung him on the barricading.

Advocate Sandeep Sharma, who defended him, said, "The Muslim protects the Quran and the Christian Bible. In such a situation, the Nihangas also have the right to protect their Gurugranth. What they have done is correct. If the guru's book is uninsulted again, we will not back down. Narayan Singh's wife Paramjit Kaur was also present on the spot while being taken into police custody. Kaur said, 'She is proud of her husband as she has punished the guilty person for the indignity of Guru Granth Sahib. If somebody commits such a heinous crime, I will punish him now.'
