Govt Forms SIT To Probe IAS Officer Allegedly Promoting Illegal Conversion

Lucknow: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has now been entrusted with the responsibility of checking the viral video regarding the connection of senior Uttar Pradesh IAS officer Mohammad Iftikharuddin to an illegal conversion gang in Uttar Pradesh. The SIT, constituted by the Home Department for investigation after the matter came to the notice of CM Yogi Adityanath, will be headed by DG CBCID GL Meena and member will be ADG Kanpur Zone Bhanu Bhaskar. The SIT will investigate the matter and submit its report to the Government in 7 days.

The IAS officer is being accused of campaigning against Hinduism. Earlier, the Kanpur Police Commissioner has also handed over the investigation to the ADCP. Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has also expressed displeasure over the case. According to media reports, SIT investigation will focus on whether the video shows a crime.

After the video went viral on social media, it has now again got limelight presently he is serving as Kanpur Police Commissioner, IAS Md.  Iftekharuddin used to hold such meetings in his official residence.  He can be seen teaching the lesson of bigotry in it. Media reports claim that Muslims not only from Kanpur but also from many states used to come to UP to join it.
