Seoul: On the 4th, the South Korean government stated that it supports the pledge made at the P5 Summit by five nuclear-weapon states to avoid nuclear war and arms competition. It also stated that it would make measures to aid world disarmament.

"The Korean government expects the vow to contribute to global disarmament based on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and world peace and stability," a representative for the Foreign Ministry said.

"Korea is pleased that the summits of five nuclear-weapon states agreed that there is no winner in a nuclear war and that it should never happen," the statement added. "It is also desired that nuclear-weapon states will take an active role in bilateral and multilateral discussions aimed at achieving practical nuclear disarmament and avoiding military competition." Furthermore, the government stated that it has been actively engaging in the Stockholm Summit.

The leaders of the five nuclear-weapon powers, the United States, China, Russia, France, and the United Kingdom (P5), signed an unified declaration on preventing nuclear war, according to the White House and the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
