Slain Indian singer Moose Wala becomes poster boy for PTI candidate

MULTAN: Posters of killed Indian singer Sidhu Moosewala have been used in the election the campaign of Zain Qureshi -  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) candidate for PP-217 in Multan for the Pakistan Punjab bypoll, media reports said.

On May 29, the famed Punjabi singer was slain, shocking his fans all over the world. According to The News, he was as well-known for his tunes among Punjabi speakers in Pakistan.

Now, Moosewala's images can be seen on the campaign posters for the PTI candidate in the Pakistan Punjab by-election slated for July 17. It features local party leaders together with Zain Qureshi, the son of former foreign minister and PTI vice-chairman Shash Mehmood Qureshi, while Moosewala makes reference to his hit song "295," as per reports.

In response to the popular images, Zain claimed to know nothing about the posters. Zain remarked in a BBC Urdu interview: "I want to thank everyone who contributed a photo of Sidhu Moosewala to the billboard because his image is what made it so popular. We had never had a poster go so viral before." Also, the PTI leader stated that "they are attempting to ascertain who printed the image on the poster and its justification."
