Finance Minister to start meeting tomorrow to revive economy

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to start a business meeting tomorrow to remove the slowdown in the economy. The Government has been constantly criticised for the poor condition of the economy. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to hold several meetings this week. In this series of meetings, the Finance Minister is scheduled to meet with representatives from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on Tuesday. The sector has 6.34 crore units across the country.

At the same time, there are about 12 crore employees in this sector and they contribute 20 per cent of the country's GDP. The MSME sector accounts for about 45 per cent of India's total exports. On August 7, Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a meeting with business leaders of the automobile sector. Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will also attend the meeting. For the past three months, automobile dealerships have lost nearly 2 lakh points due to a fall in sales.

Passenger vehicles have seen a sharp decline in sales for the past one year. Automobile Component Manufacturers of India (ACMA) has warned that the auto sector could move around 10 lakh points if things do not improve. The Finance Minister will then hold a meeting with industry organisations on the 8th of this month. A day later, the Finance Minister will meet the heads of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the finance markets of mutual fund houses.
