Simply being slow, in a state of nothingness, at a mindful space is called a Slow lifestyle. The slow living movement is doing rounds since quite some time in the US and UK. But how does doing nothing sounds? Without being busy, running after any aspirations, or wanting to achieve anything…weird for many. But for some, it might be the ultimate state to be in. Nothingness is something very dreamy, kind of a manifestation but when achieved, it can be really good.
The Slow lifestyle is a millennial thing, while the Gen Z has got the concept of ‘quiet quitting’. Meanwhile, working 4-5 days a week is gaining momentum in many countries. People suffering from a burnout, a toxic work culture and straining relationships are looking for a life at ease that starts with doing absolutely ‘nothing’. But is our society conditioned that way to allow us?
It is not. For, everyone cannot just leave a job when he has a family to look after, everyone cannot take a long time off; can be a tough task. But there is something you can do. You can step on to a slow paced, no rush lifestyle in the coming year. Check out how-
The importance of rest
Rest is pretty important. And we are not attributing it to the physical rest, rather being away from any workload, emotional burden or stress that is draining you. When you realize the importance of rest, you start focusing on your mental peace and health. Being at rest doesn’t applies to lying in bed either. It is choosing to let go success, of not to run after ‘having it all.’ It is must to understand the importance of rest.
Choosing the important
Taking time for the things that hold importance for you. Besides work, you should make way for the real important things like- reading books, journaling, exercising, meditation, and anything that you like to do. Anything that gives you peace, calms you and releases your stress shall be your top priority. Along with all this, you have to choose the people who really mean to you. Keeping them close is enough. A random day simply doing leisurely things and being with the people who love you, now that’s the real important deal. Start by saying ‘no’ to what doesn’t matters and hinders your growth. Draw margins, create space for the necessary.
Reducing screen time, staying technology free
Take a break off from the screens, from the techno paced life. This should be practiced every once in a while, or some hours every day. Not checking mails, posting on social media or checking social networking apps should be done. Your screen time shall go down. It is necessary to exist in the reality than the virtual world. For this, you can even create technology free space in your home and workplace.
Practice gratitude
Being grateful is key to having a peaceful life. Practice gratitude everyday towards everything that exists in your life. Let the universe know, so that you attract more good things in your life. Be grateful when you wake up and when you sleep at night. Start it with being contended, only then you can have the feeling of gratefulness.
Stay close to nature
Spend time amidst nature, where you breathe free. Being close to nature makes you stress free, healthy and positive. You can take a stroll in the park, walk your pet, meditate, jog or exercise. There is a cure for everything in nature itself. Heal yourself by spending time in nature.
Stay present
Make sure you are present wherever you are. Being present is a sign of growth, concentration and efficiency. When you are present in what you are doing, who you are with, you are able to achieve the optimum. You will see the results when you are doing things giving your 100% then and there.
Commitment to love and life
Your life doesn’t center around work and work alone. There is a life beyond it, and there are worthy people too. Commit yourself to love and life before work. Yes, work comes first as an obliged duty, but the most important things are more than that. Work, but do not forget to live.
Focus on physical and mental health
Health must be a priority. And taking care of your physical and mental health is your priority. Practice yoga, exercise and mediation to ensure mindfulness in life. When you are really healthy, you will be able to give more.
Enjoy the mundane
The daily mundane things shall never bore you, adopt such a lifestyle. Start enjoying every basic thing you do. It won’t appear tedious when you start doing it. When it gets normal to you, it will make you happy.
Realize your purpose
You must know your purpose. Stay mindful, practice spirituality, be in nature; slowly you will realize your purpose. Search for yourself, know who you are and you will know your purpose to be here.
Nothingness is not doing anything intentionally. Just living with everything that makes you happy along with your purpose to do it all, not chasing anything and attracting what the Universe has for you. Slow is not laziness, it is soulful. Thus, switch on to a lifestyle that gives you peace and mindfulness. It is not being aesthetic for a while, it is a lifestyle that is worth the chance you got to take in 2025 that can be the best decision for your life.Â
