Mumbai: There is a new awareness in the country these days. This awareness has come after the announcement of the Plastic Ban by PM Modi. In this connection, all the departments of the government are promoting the campaign at their own level. At the same time, Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani launched a project for fashion that contributes to a clean environment. The first minister launched Project SURE (Sustainable Resurrenation) in Mumbai on Thursday night. This includes 16 top retail fashion brands.

Irani said the project reflects Mahatma Gandhi's vision and is a step towards responsible and efficient business. He said India's 16 largest brands have never come together to conserve the planet before. The combined valuation of these 16 brands is around Rs 30,000 crore. He further said that whatever we consume, we have to consume responsibly. The step taken today is not only for responsible business but also for skilled business.

Irani said this while launching Project SURE at Lakme Fashion Festival 2019. The SURE project by the Indian garment industry is aimed at a sustainable route for the fashion industry. The project was launched by the Minister along with the Textile Manufacturers Association (CMAI), the United Nations in India and the organizers of Lakme Fashion Week, IMG Reliance. The Textile Minister said that as a proud Indian, I am standing here today to see history. I would like to tell the United Nations that this has been possible because of the initiative of IMG Reliance and Lakme Fashion Week.
